Universe Log 4: Gotta Go Fast

The world is constantly in a state of evolving and modernizing. Each decade, advancements in technology and knowledge make things easier. Or, they just introduce new complications.
A big issue with things being so easy and fast is that we as a society have gotten way too used to it. We have become so adjusted to speed that we demand quick satisfaction of our needs and desires, and we get angered if we our not immediately tended to.
People complain to food service workers if they're food isn't out fast enough. A driver behind you will honk at you if you don't go the second the light turns green. If you're going even slightly too slow for someone's preference, they'll speed around you. People overwhelmingly flock to the self-checkout in stores because it's faster than going to an actual cashier, and also you don't have to talk to someone.
We also just don't like waiting. With a combination of human nature and modern society, we have lost a lot of our sense of patience. We don't want to wait to get the things we want. When we decide we want something, we want it now or we're gonna be uncomfortable.
And I don't mean to sound like I'm sitting on a high horse, judging people from a distance for doing things I'm innocent of. I know I'm guilty of a lot of this myself. I get antsy in lines and get frustrated if something is taking too long. And there have been times when I'm in traffic and I find myself getting unreasonably upset and I have to take a moment to be like "dude, seriously?" to myself.
And that goes with people having a warped sense of what things they feel deserve their energy. There are so many things that people should not be angered by, yet they waste their time and energy being mad about it. I think most of us need to look at our standards and reflect on what should and shouldn't get such a rise out of us. Maybe that's a topic that warrants a whole separate episode but I feel like it lines up enough with this subject for me to talk about it real quick.
I know this episode is a departure from what this blog usually is, but I did say that I wanted to just talk about stuff still. Even though I ended Mr. Hardy Saves The World, I still valued the ability for me to complain. Your guide to the multiverse can complain just as much as Mr. Hardy can. And he has him on speed dial.
