BOOK REVIEW: MARCH EDITION!
You guys wanna know something funny? I wrote this blog initially last night thinking I had only read one book in March. It wasn't that I didn't like the other one I read, or that it was forgettable, I just somehow forgot to put it on my big list of books I've read this year and that somehow made me forget having read it in general. My sister reminded me that I read it so I had to scrap the blog and start over.
I probably just forgot the second book because the first one was giant and took up most of the month. It was technically a whole series, and I read all five of the main parts as well as the bonus sixth. Whereas the second book was several times smaller and thus I only took a few days to read it. Probably also because I read a lot of The Shining in March but didn't finish it, so you'll see that one in the April review. So let's just jump into it.
2. Beyond the Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard by Tom Felton
This is the autobiography of the guy who played Draco in the Harry Potter movies, telling his story mostly during the movies, but also before and after. About his upbringing, life struggles and successes, and roles he had before, during, and after Harry Potter. This is the one I forgot in my initial writing. I'm sorry I forgot, Tom Felton, I genuinely did really like your book.
1. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (bonus sixth part by Eoin Colfer)
A franchise I had wanted to get into for a while and I'm glad I finally did so. The British excel at quirky and sarcastic comedy, and this series is full of it. I don't recall a regular book making me laugh out loud before this, but this series made me do so many times. I love how it's an epic space adventure with so many strange worlds and characters and sci-fi stuff, but it's also hilarious. I remain making references to it to this day. And, as I write my space opera, this series is going to be the main inspiration. I seek to craft a space story as simultaneously thrilling and hilarious as this one was.
