BOOK REVIEW: FEBRUARY EDITION!!!!!

Another month has concluded in 2023, the year of my resolution to read a lot of books! In January, I got through five(ish) books, but I only read three in February. Mostly because one of the ones I read was huge (over 800 pages). Anyway, let's rank those three books!

In third and last place for February is Grant's Tomb by Louis L. Picone.
It was a good read and made me like Ulysses S. Grant even more than I already did, and it was interesting to read about history I hadn't heard too much about - the national period of mourning for a beloved president and the construction of a tomb to remember him.
I have to rank at last for two reasons. One is the fact that almost 100 pages of the book is just notes and citations. It's a lot shorter than it looks, which is kinda misleading and disappointing. The second reason is that I just liked the other two books I read more.

In second place is We Were Dreamers by Simu Liu. The man who grew to fame from stock images, then Kim's Convenience, then his role as Shang-Chi for the MCU. It's a really nice story ro read about his and his family's life in China and their journey to immigrate to Canada and give him a better life. How hard it was for them, and how they made it work through hard work no matter how hard it was. It was also interesting to just read about Liu's life in general and how we went from a little immigrant kid to being part of one of the most successful franchises ever.

In first place, and what I already know will be a contender for my favorite book I read of the whole year, is 11/22/63 by Stephen King. This book tells the story of a man who learns of a time portal and uses it to go back in time to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. I won't get much into spoilers, but just from knowing who the author is, you should assume that things don't go entirely well for the protagonist. He finds love in the past and settles into a life he grows fond of, even though the past keeps fighting against him, not wanting to be changed.
This book became my favorite Stephen King book, and will definitely be among the top contenders when I decide who wins the book of the year award at the end of the year.
