CRAPS: Morbius
Jared Leto is back in another comic book role after his disastrous outings as Joker in Suicide Squad and Zack Snyder's Justice League (I thought his bit in ZSJL was an improvement but whatever). This time, he's playing Morbius, a Marvel Comics supervillain/antihero, often-antagonist of Spider-Man, often-protagonist of his own right.
In short, Morbius is Dr. Michael Morbius, a genius doctor who suffers from a rare blood disease who cures himself with a transfusion mixed with DNA from vampire bats. However, the transfusion gives him supernatural vampire abilities and the thirst for human blood. His medical contributions have saved tons of lives, but now he can't help but take some. The movie chronicles Morbius' attempts to overcome his urges and quell his vampire side as well as defeat his childhood friend, Milo, who has taken some of the transfusion himself and is bent on being a bad guy. Morbius wins and has to kill Milo. SO LET'S JUST JUMP INTO THE REVIEW!
-Characters: 7/10
The absolute strongest characters in this movie are Morbius himself and the antagonist, Milo. There are a few other pretty good ones, but the movie doesn't do much to make you care about anyone besides Morbius and Milo. But because of how good those two are, I think 7 is a fair rating.
-Rewatchability: 8/10
It's set in the same universe as Venom and its sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and it's pretty much as rewatchable as those movies. I'd definitely watch it again.
-Artistry: 9/10
I know, I know, I'm giving the edgy macabre vampire movie a high score. But I'm biased to comic book movies. I think this movie was very well-done.
-Plotlines: 5/10
I think the plot is kind of weak, honestly. It just feels very basic. It's nothing I hadn't seen before. It felt very similar to Venom and other dark superhero movies.
-Soundtrack: 5/10
I wasn't paying too much attention to the music honestly, but I did remember to every once in a while. It wasn't anything special.
Overall: 34/50
