CRAPS: Yesterday
I've been wanting to watch this movie for a good time now, and I finally did it. I love musical movies, and this is one of them. It's about a starving artist who's obsessed with The Beatles who, after surviving an accident during a mysterious blackout, wakes up to a world where The Beatles never happened. No one knows who they are or even their music.
Jack starts performing Beatles songs as his own, and of course, everyone loves them. He becomes a quick pop sensation, performing beloved hits such as "Let It Be", "Here Comes The Sun" and, of course, the titular "Yesterday". He even works alongside Ed Sheeran.
The fame eventually gets to him, especially considering none of the songs he's so famous for are actually his. He even meets and talks to the John Lennon of this world, and meets a couple who somehow also remember The Beatles. He breaks down at a mega-concert and confesses that all his music was actually written by four men named John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. He releases all of "his" music for free and says he just wants the world to know all the great music the four men wrote.
Characters: 8/10. Jack was a great character and so were Ellie, Debra, and Ed Sheeran, and of course the appearance from John Lennon (who was cast very well) was cool.
Rewatchability: 10/10. I would love to watch this again.
Artistry: 9/10. It's a movie about The Beatles, of course it's artistically very cool.
Plotlines: 9/10. The rise to fame from someone else's work and falling apart because of it was a very cool story.
Soundtrack: 10/10. With a soundtrack of pretty much entirely Beatles music, how could the soundtrack be anything short of awesome?
Overall: 46/50
