Episode 6: The Man Who Actually Saved The World

"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him."
                                                               -John 3:17 (NIV)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
The first Christmas special is upon us! This is the last blog before Christmas, so naturally this one had to be the Christmas special. This episode will be part of a trilogy of specials, each one will feature interviews from special guests. Episode 7 will be the end of the year special, where I talk about the best movies and shows of 2021, and episode 8 will be the New Year's special, where I talk about new beginnings and resolutions.

What's so special about Christmas?
Christmas is easily my favorite holiday. Always has been. My love for Christmas expands far beyond the gifts and treats and music - those things are great, yes, but it goes far deeper and far more special than that. Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Christ, the fact that God came down to us to save us. The birth of his Son Jesus who would come to die on the cross for the forgiveness of sins.
Jesus could have come to us any way He wanted to - He could've descended as a righteous king, a force of nature, anything. But, He chose to come as a baby, to be born into His world just as any one of His people were. To be born of a virgin, born in a manger in a dirty barn. To grow up and become a carpenter, and to teach people to follow God and to live in His name. All to lead up to bearing the sins of man all on Him - in a brutal death on the cross that marked mercy on all who follow Him.

That's why Christmas is special. The saving of a world so drenched in sin, so ruined. God came to us, chose to become one of us. Christmas marks the beginning of that. My favorite Christmas song, "Oh Holy Night", is all about how special and important His birth was.

He actually saved the world.
That's the point of my blog this week. I can pretend I'm saving the world all I want, but in reality I'm just a lame 21-year-old writing a blog that like five people read. I am making absolutely no difference in the world by doing this. And no matter how dark and dismal the world may seem sometimes, it has already been saved. Jesus already saved the world.

The interview
For the interview this week, I got to interview my grandpa! Here's my questions for him with his answers.

1. What's your favorite Christmas song?
2. Why is that one your favorite?
3. What's your favorite part about Christmas?
4. What's your favorite Christmas treat?
5. What does Christmas mean to you?

1. Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah
2. What it has to say and the sound when played by an orchestra.
3. Getting together with family members
4. Toffee bars
5. The celebration of the birth of our savior Jesus

Thanks for being part of my weird blog, Grandpa!

Merry Christmas, everyone! See you next week where I give out my "awards" for the year!
